In 1974, the 14th Duke of Bedford had the courage to envision a world-class golf facility at Woburn. Just two years later,  in 1976, the Duke's course opened - closely followed by the Duchess course in 1978.

However, the Duke always believed that the very best piece of land had not yet been used and for many years hoped to build a third course. In June 200, his faith was justified. The new Marquess course was officially opened and, designed with modern Champions in mind, it quickly become known as the best new Inland Course in Britain.
